Babies experience many firsts, and first solid foods are an important milestone in early development. When helping your clients identify the most appropriate first foods for their babies, tell them to mix and mash up avocados. Nutrient-dense and delicious, the avocado’s creamy consistency and mild taste makes it one of the first foods a baby can enjoy.
Avocados are nutritionally unique in that they are lower in sugar and higher in fiber and monounsaturated fatty acids than most other fruits. Per 25 g serving, avocados have 3 grams of unsaturated fats, which are known to be important for normal growth and development of the central nervous system and brain.

Avocado pairs nicely in easy-to-make mashups with other nutritious fruits and vegetables, like this simple, two-ingredient Sweet Potato and Avocado Mashup. Try substituting the sweet potato for pumpkin, applesauce or banana.
