How to Make Guacamole

Want the basic steps in how to make fresh guacamole?

You’ve come to the right place. Guacamole can take on many different forms to be used in a variety of different ways – all are delicious. One constant ingredient in all guacamole recipes are versatile, flavorful, ripe, fresh avocados. Fresh avocados make the perfect guacamole for any occasion.

Step 1 – Start by cleaning your area and your unpeeled Hass avocados. Find preparation tips here.

Step 2 – Cut the avocado in half and remove the seed. For directions go to Cut, Slice, Peel and Pit Avocados.

Step 3 – Scoop out the inner flesh of the avocado with a spoon, separating it from the outer skin. Place in a mortar and pestle. Don’t have a mortar and pestle? A bowl and a fork should work for most guacamole recipes.

Step 4 – Take a look at your recipe. Recipes vary on whether the avocados should be mashed, sliced, diced or pureed depending on the desired level of “smooth” or “chunky” avocados.

Great work!– Now you have mashed avocados in a bowl! What’s next? You’re ready for the seasonings and ingredients that make guacamole.

Guac Tip – Fresh guacamole should be served immediately to ensure the best possible taste. Guacamole can be stored for about a day; for instructions visit How to Store Guacamole.
