Good Fats are a Go for American Heart Month

American Heart Month is the perfect time to show your heart some love.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, but there is plenty you can do to help prevent it. A healthy diet, physical activity, and not smoking are three key ways to reduce your risk for heart disease.

In fact, the Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends replacing bad saturated fat in the diet with sources of good unsaturated fat.

Not sure where to begin? Below is a list of heart-healthy sources of good unsaturated fat.

  • Fresh avocados
  • Walnuts
  • Salmon
  • Olive oil
  • Flax seed or chia seed

Avocado and foods with good fats

Add Good Fat with Avocado

Fresh avocados are a delicious source of dietary fiber (3g per serving, or 1/3 medium avocado) and provide good mono and polyunsaturated fats. With a creamy texture and vibrant green hue, avocados are a satiating substitute in any dish. Check out a few of our favorite ways to Love One Today ®.
