IRVINE, Calif. (January 31, 2006) – With the countdown to the Big Game on its way, many football fans are avidly supporting their teams. Gridiron fans’ fierce loyalty runs the gamut of wearing team jerseys, to painting their faces in team colors and even dressing up as their team’s mascot. Now, fans can even show their devotion with the foods they eat at their Big Game Day parties. The Hass Avocado Board has prepared two distinctive guacamole recipes that represent the opposing teams, Pittsburgh Gridiron Game Day Guacamole and Seattle Ultimate Game Day Hawkamole.

Always a Big Game Day party favorite, 49.5 million pounds of Hass avocados, mostly in the form of guacamole, are expected to be eaten by fans during the game – enough to cover Detroit’s Ford Field, end zone to end zone, in 11.8 feet of guacamole.

So, decide which team you are rooting for and serve up their delicious guacamole recipe. If your party guests are divided in their support, serve up both recipes and see which team is more popular!

About the Hass Avocado Board

The Hass Avocado Board (HAB) was established in 2002 after approval by producers and importers of Hass avocados in a national referendum. A 12-member Board administers the program. Over 20,000 producers and 100 importers are involved in the HAB, which covers fresh domestic and imported Hass avocados sold in the U.S. market.
