Recipe Description:

With a pesto-like flavor, this creamy basil avocado sauce will add a beautiful Mediterranean flare to your next meal. It pairs beautifully with grilled meats and vegetables, such as grilled mushrooms, and comes together in minutes!

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe, fresh avocado, halved, pitted and peeled
  • 1/4 cup nonfat Greek yogurt, plain
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 cup basil leaves, roughly chopped
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Place all ingredients in the bowl of a small food processor or blender. Blend until creamy. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Notes & Tips:

This avocado sauce can be made ahead and served chilled. It can be stored in the refrigerator in an air-tight container for up to 3 days.

It pairs beautifully with grilled vegetables, such as mushrooms, for a delicious side dish. Or also pairs well with grilled meats. Can stand alone as its own dip with fresh vegetable crudité as well.
