Recipe Description:

Avocado adds a rich creaminess to this traditional Indonesian-style avocado coffee shake. Avocado is blended with espresso, milk, dates, and ice for a refreshing latte-inspired shake that is also good for you!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup skim milk (can use an unsweetened plant milk if preferred)
  • 1 ripe, fresh avocado, halved, pitted and peeled
  • 2 shots of espresso (2 oz.), or ¼ cup strongly-brewed coffee
  • 3 Medjool dates, pitted
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes
  • 2 Tbsp. chocolate syrup, for serving (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a blender, combine milk, avocado, espresso, dates, salt, and ½ cup of ice cubes. Blend on high until creamy, scraping down the sides as needed. Adjust the consistency by either adding more ice (thicker) or milk (thinner), if needed.
  2. If desired, garnish 2 glasses with 1 tablespoon of chocolate syrup each then divide the shake evenly between the two and serve.
